Blockbusters Suffer 4-2 Road Loss
|
Cleveland pitcher Roger Scherf had a large part in his team beating the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Scherf got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The win puts Cleveland at 18-18 this season.
Tom Crowell, who finished 5th in the NBL in stolen bases with 42 in 1972, came through for Cleveland with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The center fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 RBI.
Afterward, Los Angeles manager John Trausch said: "We've hit a rough patch."
