Eagles Drop 3-1 Decision to Packers
|
The Cincinnati Packers got a rain-soaked win over the Washington Eagles.
The Cincinnati Packers got a strong performance from pitcher John Stoddard, who stymied the Washington offense en route to a win, 3-1, at Roman Arena. Picking up his 3rd save was former first round draft pick Dave Young.
The Packers got a big at-bat from right fielder Glenn Palmer. For the game, Palmer was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 2nd double of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-0 lead.
"John had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Cincinnati manager Martin Abresch.
The losing streak for Washington has now reached 4 games.
