With center fielder Miguel Preciado leading the charge, the Boston Terriers defeated the Chicago Hawks, 7-6, at Atlantic Avenue Grounds. Preciado, who is tied for 5th in the ABL in hits with 42, was 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Boston reliever Marvin Walton picked up the win. Armando Estrada, who finished 4th in the ABL in saves with 22 in 1967, took the loss for Chicago. Boston is now 15-21, Chicago 13-23.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Boston trailing 6-5, Preciado hit a sinker from Tanner Latour for a 2-run single. In the blink of an eye, the Terriers had a walk-off win.
Terriers manager Jonah Placeholder wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
