Habitants Rack Up 5-2 Win Versus Twin Cities
|
The Twin Cities Northmen got a sterling performance from pitcher Gerald Gross, but the Montreal Habitants still prevailed, 5-2. Gross threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The winning pitcher was Dave Quigley. He's now 1-0. He went 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Habitants. Montreal has now won 3 in a row.
Jerry Sullivan had a big 2-run double for the Habitants in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckle curve from Gerald Gross, who is tied for 10th in the ABL with a 2.47 ERA, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Habitants ahead, 3-0.
"The team always comes first," Sullivan told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
