Pobladores Suffer 8-1 Home Defeat
|
The Seattle Emeralds downed the Los Angeles Pobladores, 8-1, at San Vicente Park. Stellar pitching by Pedro Nunez had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 4th in the NBL in ERA with 2.47 in 1965, handcuffed his opponent all game. Nunez yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 5, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. The win takes Seattle to 2-1.
Seattle used the hitting of Dustin Guest to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Emeralds on top, 3-0. For the game, Guest had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
