Guest Knickerbockers Win, 8-3, at Chicago
|
The timely hitting of Francisco Chavez helped the New York Knickerbockers down the Chicago Traders, 8-3. Chavez went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Knickerbockers. The winning pitcher was Danny Abril. He tossed 99 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. New York is now 20-18.
With New York leading 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Chavez hit a splitter from Larry Cox for a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 8-3.
"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Chavez told the New York Chronicle.
