Empires Edge Past Hawks, 4-3
Jack Neenan, who led the ABL in saves with 29 last year, had a strong outing for the New York Empires against the Chicago Hawks at Queens Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Jack Pratt came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. New York, now 22-15, holds down first place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.

Lowell Bickle was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Empires first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It was bedlam at the end," Neenan said.
