The New York Empires defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 7-5, in American Baseball League action at Twin Cities Stadium. Miguel Preciado pulled his weight. The 10-year veteran was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jack Neenan, who led the ABL in saves with 29 in 1973, earned the save for New York. With the win over Twin Cities, the Empires improved to 19-19.

Preciado contributed in the top of the fifth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat among others that helped New York get the win.

"We take it day by day here," said Preciado, "and today was a good one for us."
