Robinson Excels, Denver Levels St. Louis
|
The Denver Burros easily defeated the St. Louis Explorers, 13-3, at Corps of Discovery Stadium, with third baseman Jamie Robinson a main contributor to the win. He went 2-5 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 for Denver. Bart Dunsley, who finished 3rd in the NBL in innings pitched with 266.2 in 1967, was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Their 22-16 record puts the Burros second in the National Baseball League Western Division.
John Crabtree was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks for Denver. The 26-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Glenn Kittle. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"Solid performance from our side," said Burros manager Clark Anderson.
