Habitants Win at Home, 9-1
|
The Montreal Habitants defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 9-1. Shortstop Oscar Corte deserved a large share of the credit. Corte was 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs for the Habitants. With the win over Twin Cities, the Habitants improved to 21-18.
Don Hill had a big bases-clearing double for the Habitants in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Montreal leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a sinker from two-time All-Star Syed Farooqi and swatted a double to left. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Habitants ahead, 5-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Hill, "and today was a good one for us."
