Slumping Bluebirds Lose 6th Straight
|
Washington Eagles starter Bob Viola pitched a strong game against the Brooklyn Bluebirds at Flatbush Park, leading the Eagles to victory, 6-2. Viola, now 3-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Washington has now won 3 straight, while the Bluebirds have lost 6 in a row.
Washington took a 3-2 lead on Mike Lockhart's 2nd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Lockhart hit in the top of the eighth, left Brooklyn pitcher Bob Hill visibly frustrated.
"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker.
