Hyde Park Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Chicago Hawks and Seattle Emeralds.

Seattle used a superb performance from starting pitcher John Walker to down the Chicago Hawks, 3-1. Walker, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Ron Woods closed the game out for Seattle, earning his 1st save.

Eddie Rodriguez, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1963 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Rodriguez contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Seattle up, 3-0.

"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Walker.

Chicago's current losing streak is now 5 games.
