Explorers Beat Eagles, 2-1
|
Jimmy Trent never let the Eagles get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Explorers to a win, 2-1. The save was credited to Don Dalton, his 6th. St. Louis is now riding a 3-game win streak.
The Explorers got an important contribution from third baseman Bill Fulton, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 2-1 slider into right for a solo home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Explorers ahead, 2-0.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Trent told the St. Louis Chronicle.
