Habitants Suffer 8-1 Road Loss
|
The New York Empires defeated the Montreal Habitants, 8-1, in American Baseball League action at Queens Field. New York pitcher Andy Humphrey had a standout performance. The Empires now have a record of 22-18 with the win over Montreal.
Eddie Ellison, who is a seven-time All-Star, took Montreal hurler Manny Esparza deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 2-run home run put the Empires on top, 2-1. In all, Ellison had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I didn't want to let them take the game from my hands," said Humphrey.
