John Martin helped his team muscle past the Detroit Wolverines, 6-4. In the game, the Houston left fielder went 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Houston is now 25-14, 4½ games up in the American Baseball League Western Division.

Houston took a 6-2 lead on Martin's 3rd home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which he hit off Juan Rodriguez in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Houston to the win.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Martin.
