Empires Get Extra-Inning, 4-3 Win
|
Detroit got a valiant performance from pitcher Jim Bryant, but it wasn't enough to beat the New York Empires. New York won the game, 4-3. Bryant threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Jack Neenan, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The Empires bumped their record to 23-16 with this latest triumph.
The Empires got a clutch hit from shortstop Dave Matuzak. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Empires.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Matuzak said.
