Empires Come Up Short at Baltimore, 2-1
|
The Baltimore Lords picked up a win at Seton Hill Stadium, downing the New York Empires, 2-1. On the mound for Baltimore was left-hander Pete Veirs, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win moves Baltimore to a record of 2-2.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Lords had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when shortstop George McIntyre hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Andy Humphrey and made the score 2-0, Lords. McIntyre went 1 for 2 with a walk.
"Every loss stings," said New York manager Jose Placeholder. "This one is no exception."
