Cleveland Downed, 4-2, by Knickerbockers
|
The New York Knickerbockers picked up a win at Lakefront Stadium, downing the Cleveland Bobcats, 4-2. On the mound for New York was right-hander Danny Abril, who played a pivotal role in the win. The save went to Ollie Hundley, his 8th this season. With the victory, the Knickerbockers upped their record to 25-15.
Bob White, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1968 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. White contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put New York up, 3-1.
"Bottom line," said Cleveland skipper Daniel Mays, "we didn't play well enough to win."
