Eagles Win at Home, 5-1
|
Washington Eagles pitcher Pedro Nunez was in top form, leading his team past the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 5-1. In 9 innings, Nunez surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Washington has now won 4 straight.
Vince Marshall had a big solo home run for the Eagles in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Washington leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Curry and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Eagles on top, 3-1.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Washington manager Brandon Tucker.
