The Detroit Wolverines picked up a win at Queens Field, taking down the New York Empires, 3-1. Starting pitcher Juan Rodriguez was a big reason why. Detroit is now 22-17, New York 23-17.

The Wolverines got a big at-bat from right fielder Pete Morrison. For the game, Morrison went 1-4 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Detroit a 2-1 lead.

"I like our moxie," said Wolverines manager Alex Wobbema.
