Knickerbockers Win Thriller, 5-3
New York pitcher Jack Forbes had a large part in his team beating the Philadelphia Quakers, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Knickerbockers bumped their record to 23-18 with this latest triumph.

New York got a knockout punch from Ron Freeman. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

Said Freeman: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
