Habitants Earn 4-3 Win Versus Empires
|
The New York Empires and Montreal Habitants provided some drama for the home crowd.
Despite a great performance by New York left fielder Bartholomew Egan, the Montreal Habitants defeated the Empires by the score of 4-3 at LaSalle Stadium. Egan went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Montreal reliever Jerry Meek picked up the win to move to 3-2. Jim Olson suffered the loss.
Montreal took a 4-3 lead on Billy Groh's 2nd triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Groh hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Jim Olson visibly frustrated.
"I was a little disappointed," said New York manager John Harris. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
The win elevated the Habitants to 21-21.
