Knickerbockers Need Extra Innings to Top Eagles, 8-2
|
The New York Knickerbockers used a stellar performance from pitcher Chris Hull to throttle the Washington offense en route to an extra-inning, 8-2 win at Monument Field. The Knickerbockers have an impressive 27-15 record.
New York used a timely hit from Bob Underwood to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 13th inning to put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Underwood. "But I like how we're playing right now."
