Hawks Take Down Pobladores, 3-2
|
The Chicago Hawks eked out a 14-inning, 3-2 win versus the Los Angeles Pobladores at Hyde Park Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Ron Woods. He was terrific. Chicago pitcher Angel Villatoro earned the win, hiking his record to 1-1. Carlos Novoa suffered the loss. The Hawks raised their record to 17-25.
The Hawks got a clutch hit from shortstop Jim Farrar. In the bottom of the 14th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Hawks.
"This place sure got loud," said Mike Flaherty, the Chicago manager.
