Seagulls Down Emeralds, 5-2
|
Starting pitcher Pete Ragsdale fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the San Francisco Seagulls stymie the Seattle Emeralds, 5-2. Randy Shipley picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Eric Roe suffered the loss. Getting the save was Ray Brooks, his 2nd.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Gail Bishop to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Seagulls on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Bishop simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
At 23-20, San Francisco is in third place in the American Baseball League Western Division.
