Empires Rally Late to Clip Baltimore
James Pendleton had a good game, but he could not keep the Baltimore Lords from falling, 7-6, to the New York Empires at Seton Hill Stadium. The Baltimore second baseman went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 in the loss. Tom Duncan snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-2 on the season. Denny Boyd suffered the loss. Danilo Molina nailed down the save.

New York used a timely hit from Gary Austin to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Empires ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"It feels good to get this one," Austin told the New York Bulletin.

The win hiked the New York record to 23-18.
