Chicago Absorbs 4-2 Loss to Los Angeles
|
The Los Angeles Blockbusters handed the Chicago Traders a loss at Union Field. The final score was 4-2. Major production was provided by Ernie Ronnebaum for Los Angeles. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. He also added 2 walks. The Blockbusters, at 22-22, inhabit 4th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Pedro Villamil to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Blockbusters on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Villamil. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
