Cooper Hits 2 home runs in Bluebirds Win
|
Led by Jackie Cooper, the Brooklyn Bluebirds defeated the Cincinnati Packers, 5-3. Cooper went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Bluebirds. The win went to Dick Conway in relief. His record improves to 1-1. John Stoddard took the loss. The Packers, at 16-26, have lost 7 straight games.
Cooper had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-1 cutter from Steve Meckley, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Bluebirds a 5-3 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Cooper.
"We played hard and won," said Cooper. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
