Knickerbockers Mow Down Eagles, 9-3
|
Jeff Madsen was a major contributor to the 9-3 New York win over Washington. The Knickerbockers left fielder went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Dave Torre got the win, improving to 5-2. He worked 7 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. The Knickerbockers have now won 4 straight.
With New York trailing 3-1 in the top of the second, Madsen hit a fastball from Dave Alexander for a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 5-3.
"We were able to put some runs on the board," said Madsen after the game.
