The Los Angeles Pobladores defeated the Houston Drillers, 4-3, in American Baseball League action at Sam Houston Field. Los Angeles pitcher Jim Arndt had a standout performance. Whistlestop Meadows recorded the save for Los Angeles, his 2nd of the season.

Chuck Gunter, who finished 3rd in the ABL in extra base hits with 67 in 1971, had a direct impact on the outcome. Gunter contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Los Angeles up, 4-3.

"Nice to keep stacking the wins," said Gunter.

The wins continue to add up for Los Angeles. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
