St. Louis beat Pittsburgh at Corps of Discovery Stadium, eking out a 4-3 win. The triumph was primarily due to first baseman Tom Adams. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Robbie Goolsby, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 0.2 innings. Bernie Tate picked up his 1st save of the season.

St. Louis took a 4-3 lead on Scott Stevens's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Stevens hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Mike Gresley visibly frustrated.

"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Adams.

The loss has the Industrials at 3-2.
