Captains Edge Past Blockbusters, 4-3
|
The San Diego Captains clipped the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-3, in 12 innings at San Diego Sporting Complex. The standout performance belonged to San Diego pitcher and Salem, Oregon, native Mark Pike. The win went to Brian Meade in relief, making him now 4-2. Joe Hamby took the loss for Los Angeles. Los Angeles is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the 12th, an error by the Blockbusters allowed the Captains to score the winning run.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Joe Mack, the San Diego skipper. "This one tested us."
