Los Angeles Tacks 5-2 Loss on Chicago
|
Los Angeles Blockbusters starter Larry Messenger turned in a top-notch performance against the Chicago Traders at Blockbuster Stadium. The result was a win for the Blockbusters, 5-2. Messenger got the win, improving to 4-4. He gave up 2 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. Wayne Guilmette was credited with the save for Los Angeles, his 1st of the season.
Mike Herron had a big 3-run home run for the Blockbusters in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from Skip Crawford and swatted a home run to right. It was his 2nd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Blockbusters ahead, 5-0.
"We did enough to win," said Messenger.
The Blockbusters move to 19-26 with the win, while the Traders drop to 24-19.
