Packers Top Quakers, 1-0, Behind Stoddard
|
John Stoddard, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1965 draft, never let the Quakers get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Packers to a win, 1-0. Steve Meckley earned the save for Cincinnati, his 3rd of the year. The victory makes Cincinnati 13-32.
The Quakers had trouble solving Stoddard, who surrendered no runs on 3 hits over 8 innings.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Packers manager Martin Abresch.
