Timmons Powers Packers to 6-5 Win
|
Cincinnati beat Brooklyn at Flatbush Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to first baseman Stan Timmons. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. Jerry Pugh recorded the save for Cincinnati, his 1st of the season. The Bluebirds have now dropped 5 straight.
Timmons had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 2-1 fastball from Frank D'Amico, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Packers a 5-1 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Timmons.
"We played hard and won," said Timmons. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
