Seagulls Rally to Nose Past Dallas
|
Dallas got a big-time effort from pitcher Steve Coomes, but it wasn't enough to keep the San Francisco Seagulls from winning the game, 4-3. Coomes threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Jimmy Trent got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 8 innings. Paul Wiley closed the game out for San Francisco, earning his 2nd save.
Don Johnson, who led the ABL in hits with 187 in 1968, had a direct impact on the outcome. Johnson contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put San Francisco up, 4-3.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said San Francisco manager Al Borie.
The win boosted San Francisco to 29-15.
