Drillers Mow Down Northmen, 9-1
|
Good production from left fielder Mike Wells helped the Houston Drillers topple the Twin Cities Northmen, 9-1. Wells was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Drillers. Today's win puts Houston at 23-21, while Twin Cities falls to 27-17.
With Houston leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Wells hit a run-scoring single off Twin Cities hurler Charlie Sokol. It was the 42nd hit of the season for Wells and put his team ahead, 3-1.
"Every time you put a 'W' on the board is always good," said Wells.
