Bruce Cardenas, who leads the NBL in complete games with 3, was locked in. The right-hander led the Cleveland Bobcats to a 6-4 win against the Washington Eagles at Lakefront Stadium. Cardenas yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-3. Joel Goodyear earned the save for Cleveland, his 1st.

Cardenas contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one at-bat among others that helped Cleveland get the win.

"Really good pitchers have that ability to raise their game when they need to," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
