Lords Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
|
The Baltimore Lords eked out a 3-2 win versus the New York Empires at Queens Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Larry Diego. He was terrific. Gilberto Rivera was credited with the save for Baltimore, his 4th of the season. The Lords improved their record to 24-20 with the win over New York.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of Steve Burke to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lords on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the right guys up at the right times," said New York manager Dan Whiting. "We just didn't cash in."
