Hurons Get Hard-Earned Win
|
The Toronto Hurons withstood a fine game by Boston center fielder Gary Williams at Atlantic Avenue Grounds, to upend the Terriers, 6-5. Williams was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Toronto, at 18-25, holds down 5th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Toronto needed the clutch hitting of Eddie McClatchey to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Hurons on top, 6-5. For the game, McClatchey had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said McClatchey.
