The San Diego Captains faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Larry Cox, but still scratched out a win at Union Field by a final score of 4-3 in 13 innings. Cox went 10 innings and allowed 3 runs. With the win, the Captains have a record of 34-13.

Tom Row, who is tied for 7th in the NBL in triples with 3, had a direct impact on the outcome. Row contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 13th inning to put San Diego up, 4-3.
