Brookins Helps Blockbusters Defeat Explorers, 5-4
The Los Angeles Blockbusters handed the St. Louis Explorers a 5-4 defeat at Blockbuster Stadium. Right Fielder Jim Brookins starred for Los Angeles. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Ralph Weintraub, the winner, improved to 3-5. He held the Explorers to 3 runs on 6 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Tom Benson closed the door for Los Angeles, picking up his 11th save of the year.

With Los Angeles leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Brookins hit a cutter from Jorge Gonzalez for a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 5-1.

"Been a pretty good stretch for me, hitting-wise," said Brookins.

The win for the Blockbusters raised their record to 23-22.
