5 Straight Wins for Knickerbockers
The New York Knickerbockers converted a terrific effort from starter Bruce Owen into a win over the Pittsburgh Industrials at Allegheny Field. The Knickerbockers won the game by a final score of 5-2. Brian Long earned the save for New York, his 1st of the year. Pittsburgh, with the loss, is 3-2.

New York used the timely hitting of Wayne Baker to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Said New York manager William Bowen: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
