Stoddard Records Shutout Against Quakers
|
John Stoddard was sneaky fast, on the mark, and hard to hit. He led the Cincinnati Packers to victory, 2-0, blanking the Philadelphia Quakers on 4 hits. He had 2 walks and 1 strikeout.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," Philadelphia skipper Jeff Green told reporters after the shutout loss. "He just had a real deceptive fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
To date this season, Stoddard has registered 10 starts, 2-6 won-lost mark, 5.74 ERA, 53.1 IP, 17 strikeouts and 30 walks. Opposing teams have hit .298 against him.
