Pittsburgh Beats Washington, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Pittsburgh Industrials and the Washington Eagles, Dennis Visco, who is tied for 3rd in the NBL in wins with 6, was the difference-maker. The Pittsburgh left-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Bob Cole earned the save for Pittsburgh, his 8th. The triumph puts Pittsburgh at 25-19 for the season.
Tim Grange, who finished 3rd in the NBL in doubles with 36 in 1964, had a direct impact on the outcome. Grange contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fourth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Pittsburgh manager Vincent Wicker said.
