Generals Suffer One-Run Loss at Baltimore
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Seton Hill Stadium. But 25-year old shortstop Mike Caito produced just enough offense to carry the Lords past the Atlanta Generals, 3-2. Caito was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. John Pardoe, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held the Generals to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The second-place Lords have won 4 consecutive games.
There was more than one reason the Lords beat the Generals, but Caito's big at-bat in the bottom of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 1-0 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
Caito said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
