Northmen Beaten By Hawks, 6-3
|
Chicago picked up a win at Hyde Park Stadium, bumping off the Twin Cities Northmen, 6-3. Pitcher Ray Norton was a major reason the Hawks emerged victorious. Norton got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. The loss drops Twin Cities to 3-2.
In the top of the ninth, Darrell Miller stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Northmen were trailing 6-3, but had the bases loaded. That's when Alberto Vinueza made a terrific pitch and Miller grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Twin Cities comeback.
