The Denver Burros grabbed a win, 6-4, over the Milwaukee Dairymen at Gates Crescent Park. Denver right fielder Leon Hughes was 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Joe Hamby recorded his 12th save for Denver. The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Burros have a record of 30-17.

Jimmy Benson had a big run-scoring double for the Burros in the bottom of the first inning. With Denver leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from two-time All-Star John Gannon and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Burros ahead, 2-0.

"I like the roll we're on right now," said Benson after the game.
