Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Lords
|
Baltimore turned a good performance from starting pitcher Pete Veirs into a 4-2 triumph over the Twin Cities Northmen at Seton Hill Stadium. Veirs, now 5-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The save was credited to Denny Boyd, his 8th.
Joel Moore aided the Baltimore cause with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
Baltimore manager Steve Read commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
The Northmen, now 27-19, have lost 4 straight.
