Seattle Tacks 5-1 Loss on Twin Cities
|
The Seattle Emeralds downed the Twin Cities Northmen, 5-1, at Puget Field. Stellar pitching by Rob Banas had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Banas. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Gerald Gross. The third-place Emeralds are 23-23.
The Emeralds benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the fourth. With Alex Rojas at bat and Seattle trailing 1-0, the Twin Cities miscue allowed Seattle to plate 2 and take the lead, 2-1.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Jason Gudim. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
