Bluff Park hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

Starting pitcher Barry Gilmore was a major factor in the 2-1 Dallas Wranglers triumph over the Detroit Wolverines. Frank Dunn closed the door for Dallas, picking up his 11th save of the year.

Had Rick Adams not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Adams hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Wranglers.

Dallas manager William Albrecht commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

The second-place Wranglers now sit at 28-19.
