Washington Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction
The Brooklyn Bluebirds downed the Washington Eagles, 7-4, at Monument Field. Mike Cash led the way, going 3-for-4 for Brooklyn. Jorge Sandoval was the winner. He's now 6-4. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Larry Andrade. Bill Keiser earned the save for Brooklyn.

There was more than one reason the Bluebirds beat the Eagles, but Cash's big at-bat in the top of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

Afterward, Washington manager Brandon Tucker said: "We've hit a rough patch."

The slumping Eagles have dropped 6 in a row.
