Hawks Get Past Dallas for 5-4 Win
The Dallas Wranglers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Vern Gould into a win. Instead, the Chicago Hawks prevailed, 5-4. Gould threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loss drops Dallas to 4-1.

The decisive blow was delivered by Andy Bires in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Art Stager to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Bires said in his postgame press conference.
