Captains Suffer 3-1 Road Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Kansas City Bulls and the San Diego Captains, pitcher Ron Bargiel was the difference between victory and defeat. The Kansas City right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Bulls win. Bargiel, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The save went to Steve Eaton, his 1st this season.
Emilio Cortez chipped in a 3-run home run for Kansas City in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Kansas City manager DD Martin said.
Kansas City, with the win, sits at 12-35.
