Knickerbockers Earn Late Win
The New York Knickerbockers besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Cincinnati left fielder Stan Timmons by beating the Packers, 5-4, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Timmons went 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The triumph puts New York at 28-20 for the season.

New York took a 5-4 lead on Francisco Chavez's 10th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Chavez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Cincinnati pitcher Brian Williams visibly frustrated.

"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Chavez. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
