Rallying Eagles Get 4-3 Win
|
Pittsburgh got a big-time effort from pitcher Dick Witt, but it wasn't enough to keep the Washington Eagles from winning the game, 4-3. Witt threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Washington, with the win, climbs to 16-32.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Washington first baseman John Ellison, facing Ed Frederick, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Eagles the 4-3 win.
"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Ellison said.
