Seagulls Win with Late Heroics
|
The San Francisco Seagulls overcame a good performance by Los Angeles first baseman Chuck Gunter to knock off Los Angeles, 6-5, in 10 innings at Mission Field. Gunter was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win belonged to Dennis Fulton in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Leon Fairley took the loss for Los Angeles. The win leaves San Francisco with a record of 3-1.
The Seagulls got a clutch hit from right fielder Bobby Tapia. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Seagulls.
"This stadium was a-rockin'," said Tapia.
